Uses of  PREVENTEK 5 mg Tablet

PREVENTEK, ( Flunarizine ) is effective in the prophylaxis of migraine, occlusive peripheral vascular disease, vertigo of central and peripheral origin, and as an adjuvant in the therapy of epilepsy. It significantly reduces headache frequency and severity in both adults and children.

How it Work

It is classified as a calcium antagonist for various indications. It may act not by inhibiting calcium entry into cells, but rather by an intracellular mechanism such as antagonizing a calcium binding protein. Hence, it works for migraines.

Common Side Effects

Common side effects include; drowsiness, weight gain, as well as extrapyramidal effects and depression in elderly patients.
