FENOLIP, ( fenofibrate ) is a drug that lowers plasma cholesterol levels. Hence Either It reduces levels of certain lipids in people with primary hyperlipidemia, alone Or in combination with Ezetimibe. It reduces cholesterol levels in people at risk of cardiovascular disease. Like other fibrates, it reduces both low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) levels, as well as increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels and reducing triglyceride levels.
How it Work
Fenofibrate enhances catabolism of triglyceride-rich particles and reduced secretion of VLDL underlie the hypotriglyceridemic effect of fibrates, Hence lowering levels of circulating cholesterol.
