Uses of  ATREST 12.5 mg Tablet

ATREST, ( Tetrabenazine ) for the hyperkinetic disorder such as Huntington’s disease – specifically, the chorea associated with it and Tourette syndrome and other tic disorders.

How it Work

The precise mechanism of action of tetrabenazine is unknown. Its anti-chorea effect is due to a reversible depletion of certain biological chemicals. ( such as monoamines dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, and histamine from nerve terminals).

Common Side Effects

Common side effects include; sedation or somnolence, fatigue, insomnia, depression, suicidal thoughts, akathisia, anxiety, and nausea.
