Uses of TELMA AM 80 mg Tablet

TELMA AM, ( Telmisartan ) for the treatment High blood pressure ( hypertension ).

Amlodipine; to treat chest pain (angina) and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease. Amlodipine is for the management of hypertension and coronary artery disease (chronic stable angina, vasospastic angina, and angiographically documented CAD without heart failure or ejection fraction & lt; 40%.). It can be used as either monotherapy or combination therapy for the management of hypertension or coronary artery disease.

How it Work

Telmisartan is angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by relaxing blood vessels which lower the blood pressure and also reduces the workload on the heart. Moreover, It is believed that telmisartan’s dual mode of action may provide protective benefits against the vascular and renal damage caused by diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Amlodipine, is an angio-selective calcium channel blocker. So Amlodipine inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes, with a greater effect on vascular smooth muscle cells. This causes vasodilation and a reduction peripheral vascular resistance, thus lowering blood pressure. Hence it reduces blood pressure.

Common Side Effects

Telmisartan; Common Side effects are similar to other angiotensin II receptor antagonists and include tachycardia and bradycardia (fast or slow heartbeat), hypotension (low blood pressure), edema (swelling of arms, legs, lips, tongue, or throat, the latter leading to breathing problems), and allergic reactions.

Amlodipine; Common side effects of Amlodipine include swelling, feeling tired, abdominal pain, and nausea.
