Uses of  GLIVEC 400 mg Tablet

GLIVEC; to treat chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) that are Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) and certain types of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), systemic mastocytosis, and myelodysplastic syndrome.

How it Work

Imatinib Mesylate is a specific inhibitor of a number of tyrosine kinase enzymes. It occupies the TK active site, leading to a decrease in activity.In this condition the white blood cells start growing out of control so Imatinib is used to inhibit the growth of these cells. Hence cures leukaemia.

Common Side Effects

Common side effects include; Acne-like rash is reported very commonly. Other common adverse effects include: diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, hair loss.
