Uses of CO DIOVAN FCT 160 mg Tablet

CO DIOVAN, ( Valsartan ) for the treatment of hypertension. It may be used alone or in combination with other anti hypertensive agents High blood pressure ( hypertension ), and congestive heart failure.

Hydrochlorothiazide, is a medication for heart diseases. In the management of High blood pressure ( hypertension ), Kidney disease and edema.

 How it Work 

Valsartan, is an  angiotensin II receptor antagonist. that is, they block the activation of angiotensin II AT₁ receptors. Blockage of AT₁ receptors directly causes vasodilation, reduces secretion of vasopressin, and Hence reduces production and secretion of aldosterone, among other actions. Hence, The combined effect reduces blood pressure.

Hydrochlorothiazide ( HCTZ ) is a type of thiazide like diuretic that works by decreasing the reabsorption of water by the kidneys. so that blood volume decreases and urine volume increases. as a result it lower the high blood pressure. Hence swelling. Either alone or in combination with other blood pressure medications as a single pill to increase the effectiveness.

Common Side Effects

Valsartan; Common side effects include Headache, Nausea, chest pain, fatigue, dizziness, low blood pressure and rashes.

Common side effects of Hydrochlorothiazide include electrolyte disturbances ( abnormal electrolyte level in blood ), and dehydration. Also headache, nausea and vomiting.
