Uses of  ALPHADOPA 500 mg Tablet

ALPHADOPA, ( Methyldopa ) for the treatment High blood pressure ( hypertension ).  It is one of the preferred treatments for high blood pressure in pregnancy.

How it Work

It is a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme, which converts into dopamine. Hence this effect lower blood pressure.

Common Side Effects

Common side effects include Headache, Nausea, body pain, fatigue, dizziness, low blood pressure and decreased heart rate. and May cause central nervous system effects such as depression, anxiety, apathy, anhedonia, and parkinsonism. In addition, decreased dopamine may reduce its inhibitory effect on prolactin leading to signs and symptoms of hyperprolactinemia.
