Uses of KARBOCHEK 25

Acarbose is an anti-diabetic drug for the treatment of diabetes mellitus type 2. However, a recent large study concludes “acarbose is effective, safe  in  patients with type 2 diabetes.

It is a starch blocker. hence inhibits alpha glucosidase, an intestinal enzyme that releases glucose from larger carbohydrates.

Inhibition of these enzyme systems reduces the rate of digestion of complex carbohydrates. Because carbohydrates are not splits into glucose molecules, the glucose absorption is decline. Thereby decrease in current blood glucose levels.
